The Best States to Find a Good Job In
While you can find good jobs in just about any state, there are some that stand out for having a number of cities that offer great job opportunities and a reasonable cost of living. Here is an overview of some of the best states to find a good job in.
Ohio
Ohio is home to three of the top ten cities to find work in. Columbus has a median base salary of $45,000 per year; however, the cost of buying a home there is slightly more expensive than in other Ohio cities on the list. Cincinnati’s median base salary is only a few hundred dollars less than that of Columbus but the cost of buying a home there is about $10,000 cheaper than it is in Columbus. Cleveland offers a median base salary of $43,000 and the average cost of purchasing a home in the city is a very reasonable $134,600. These three cities at present have about 220,000 job openings.
Missouri
Two of the five best cities to find a good job in are located in Missouri. Kansas City has over 90,000 jobs available and offers a median base salary of $45,000 per year. St. Louis has an astounding 104,725 job openings and offers a base median salary of up to $45,600. The cost of buying a home in either of these cities ranges from about $150,000 to $160,000.
Tennessee
Both Memphis and Nashville are great places to look for work. Memphis has over 42,000 job openings and a base median salary of over $41,000 per year. Nashville has over 80,000 job openings and a base median salary of $42,000 per year. Unfortunately, it costs almost $100,000 more to buy a home in Nashville than it would in Memphis.
If you are willing to move in order to get a good job, consider the states on this list. Moving isn't always the best option for those who want to find work but it can in many cases enable you to find your dream job without having to pay a lot of money for housing and other expenses.
